Description of MIL-DTL-32139 Nano D Connectors

MIL-DTL-32139 nanod connector are ideal solutions for applications including aerospace, military, industrial, medical or off-shore which require extreme miniaturization, space or weight saving and reliability. Sunkye’s nano miniature D-sub connectors meet the requirements of MIL-DTL-32139.

The Twist Pin contact of mini electrical connector by its design and performance enables the system to meet the most severe requirements – often significantly more so than stipulated in the MIL-DTL-83513 and MIL-DTL-32139 standards. The male Micro-D contact is made up of 10 strands of beryllium-copper and copper alloy twisted together, welded then bumped. These sprung strands are in fact compressed during insertion into the turned female contact and therefore a high number of electrical contact points are permanently assured while retaining flexibility and ease of insertion/extraction. The bulged point will be compressed inside the socket during insertion. Insertion and retention performance of the twist pin and socket mated pair. Both socket contact chamfer and twist pin hemispherical radius contribute to ensuring adequate insertion even in case of misalignment. Description of Micro Wireless Backshell Connector

This type of device is designed to provide screening, sealing, and reparability. Micro-D EMI backshells connect cable shields to Micro-D connectors, providing strain relief and mechanical protection. Engineered to help resist corrosion and fit a wide range of circular connectors, backshell and adapter components help protect connections from mechanical wear, environmental conditions, and electromagnetic interference (EMI). These micro d connector backshell are made out of aluminum alloy. Electroless nickel is the most widely used finish. Description of Micro Sealed Connectors

Hermetic micro D connectors are used in applications where an enclosure needs to be isolated from the outside environment. Panel feed-through is the main application for this type of miniature sealed connectors. In the vast majority of applications, the use of a hermetic encapsulant offers sufficient levels of hermeticity at a reasonable price. Only extreme environments require glass-to-metal sealing.

Furthermore, Sunkye fully tests its hermetic micro d connector solutions to provide reliability and satisfaction to its customers. Helium leak rate is the most common and most reliable method to quantify a small leak. Based on its expertise, Sunkye can also design tailor-made connectors to fit your application needs.

By mounting the flange to the panel, all Sunkye hermetically sealed electrical connectors can be used to maintain low or high pressure vacuum seals. They are fully compatible with standard Micro-D connectors. The MIL-DTL-83513 and MIL-DTL-32139 specifications define the minimum acceptable performance levels for Micro-D and Nano miniature connectors. Stamped and formed contacts, for example, are widely used in Micro-d connectors due to their low cost and ease of manufacture. METHODS TO IMPROVE THE HIGH-SPEED MICRO-PITCH INTERCONNECT PERFORMANCE OF CONNECTORS

For military connector manufacturers, in addition to their productivity, they also care about product quality. When it comes to product quality, many aspects will be involved, such as the performance of high-speed micro-pitch interconnects for connectors.

In general, there are nine main methods to improve the high-speed micro pitch connectors:

1. Connector products, in the early stages of design, need to perform multiple simulation cycles to accurately quantify product performance before starting an expensive processing process.

2. When the military grade connector is mated, the stub in the contact area should be minimized. The longer the stub, the better the reliability, but the stub is an electrical load like an antenna.

3. Simplify contact geometry and improve signal path performance.

4. Shorten the pin length to minimize the distance that the signal must travel.
